Notes

The Blue Ridge Parkway is detoured due to a bridge replacement onto NC 18, NC 88, NC 16 and Trading Post Road. On NC 18 just north of the parkway is a large motorcycle resort. 

There is major clearing and earth moving going on at the future interchange of I 40 and the relocated I 74 south of Winston-Salem.

Construction all over this trip. I 275 under rebuild from I 94 to I 96 in western Detroit suburbs. I 94 is detoured in downtown Detroit onto I 75 and I 96.

On a construction zone on US 24 (Telegraph Road) south of US 20 in Dearborn, I saw an MI 24 shield, instead of the correct US 25 shield. 

We visited to famous Y bridge on US 40 in Zanesville. We went up to Y Bridge Overlook park which has views of the bridge and downtown Zanesville.

Construction all over this trip. I 275 under rebuild from I 94 to I 96 in western Detroit suburbs. US 23 freeway from I 75 to MI 13 closed for rebuild. MI 37 closed north of Sparta. Ramp from US 12/20 to I 65 closed in Gary. I 65/70 closed in downtown Indianapolis. KY 8 closed at KY 1566.

This was our first trip of US 35 in West Virginia after the last divided four-lane section was built. This bypasses the old by the drag strip on WV 617. The drag strip used to be the halfway point between Chapel Hill and Detroit.

Notes

US 60 through the Salt River canyon is one of the great roads. We stopped at the rest area at the US 60 bridge, walked the old bridge and photographed the canyon and the new bridge.

Historic US 80 is signed on US 60 just west of AZ 89 (historic US 80). It is interesting that there is a Historic sign for US 80, but not for US 70, which also ran along this road.
